Matthew Sweet introduces a selection of film music inspired by images of poverty and riches in the week of the launch of "The Big Short" with a score by Nicholas Britell.
Nicholas Brittell's work with Hans Zimmer on the score for "12 Years A Slave" won him great praise, since which he went on to score Natalie Portman's directorial debut film, "A Tale of Love and Darkness".
The programme includes music from "Cabaret"; "The Gold Diggers of 1933"; "The Kid"; "The Great Gatsby"; "The Bicycle Thieves"; "Cinderella"; "Teorema"; "Elysium" and "The Bonfire of the Vanities". The Classic Score of the Week is Erich Korngold's music for "The Prince and the Pauper".
