The LGBT Sport Podcast - The One with Mark Foster

Mark Foster is one of the UK’s most successful swimmers of all time.

During more than two decades in the pool, he won 51 international medals; competed at five Olympic Games; won World, European and Commonwealth titles; and broke world records again and again.

In 2008, he was the British flag-bearer at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing – and is now a commentator, broadcaster and motivational speaker.

He opened up publicly for the first time about the fact he’s gay in 2017 – and he’s someone we’ve wanted to have on the podcast since the moment we started.

So, the fact that we’ve finally managed to make it happen is great – and this is a cracking conversation.

We talk about Mark’s career, his drive, his desire to better himself, some of most memorable moments in the sport, keeping his sexuality hidden from people in sport, coming out and why he chose to do it – and so, so much more.
