In Court - The Burden of Proof
Follow the trial of Metropolitan firearms officer Martyn Blake, who has been charged with the murder of Chris Kaba. Chris died from a single gunshot after being stopped by police in Streatham, south London, on Tuesday 5 September 2022. Martyn Blake, who was previously known only as NX121, has pleaded not guilty to murder.
In this episode, reporters Adina Campbell and Ross Ryan hear about a witnesses who was called by the defence on Day 11 of the trial, and how she wept in court when describing the night Chris Kaba was killed. We’ll also bring you the details of the judge’s advice to the jury before they retire to consider a verdict. And Adina and Ross are joined by a criminal barrister to explain what it’s like to construct an argument in a big trial like this.
