It combines elements of romance and fantasy, so think mythical creatures and high drama, all ending with a hard-earned happily ever after. It’s also big on BookTok, with over a million videos using the hashtag. So why is the genre suddenly having a moment?

BBC journalist Maia Davies tells us what readers can expect from romantasy books - and why it’s big business for the publishing industry.
